Who Is Debbie McSweeney?
Debbie McSweeney – Born a child of Nature in Arizona, I was always picking flowers in the woods or in our back yard! Now, living on a 6 acre farm in the middle of Kansas, we run Sacred Mother Herbs© and are care takers for the Sacred Mother United Plant Savers Sanctuary. We raise Medicine, Pollinator and Native plants in our greenhouse side as well as make Medicines. We have advocated for bees and pollinator health for almost a decade now and are a Bee Friendly Certified Farm. Our farm also has British Guernsey Dairy Goats that supply milk for our soaps we sell, as well as a wonderful addition to our diet. Numerous chickens also make their home here as well as four dogs who keep the Eagles, Hawks and coyotes away. An Herbalist, Intuitive and trained Chef, our life revolves around food as medicine. Being of Cherokee decent, I work closely with other Native Elders in bringing back our sacred foods of corn, beans and squash. As a carrier of the old seeds I work currently with Braiding The Sacred, an organization revitalizing Native foods for Native Peoples to restore their culture, health and spiritual connection to Mother Earth. I share my life with my Irish husband of 16 years, Noel, and have two sons from a previous marriage Chris and Josh. Both have added to our family with their beautiful wives Kate and Nikki. To me, the plants we grow and eat, whether it is medicine or food, connect us all at the deepest level to who we really are, all children of the Earth.
