Journey with us as we delve into the transformative power of herbs in the 21st century, challenge the modern perspectives on profit, and emphasize the urgent need for radical green healing. David offers both a profound historical reflection and a forward-thinking vision, making this conversation an essential listen for anyone passionate about herbalism and the health of our planet.
Modern Perception of Herbalism
Understanding the changing dynamics and the acceptance of herbalism in contemporary times.
Ecology and Herbalism
The role and value of herbs in addressing global ecological crises and promoting planetary healing.
Profit vs. Healing
The inherent tension between capitalistic profit motives and genuine herbal healing, and the need to prioritize one over the other.
Reflections on Commitment
David’s personal journey in herbalism, his dedication to core principles, and the sacrifices made to maintain his integrity in the field.
Nature’s Resilience
An exploration of the inherent power of nature (or Gaia) to restore balance against modern technological intrusions.
“Herbalists need to be very clear about how they view their world and what role they want in their world. Not looking at the world on what role it’s going to give you. Because all it’s going to give you is either the right to make money or the right to owe money, and herbalism shouldn’t be about money.”
~ David Hoffmann
May the past, present, and future of herbalism come alive in this insightful exchange.
