With absolute delight, I am honored to share the inaugural episode of “Voices of our Herbal Elders” with my first guest ~ herbalist David Winston!
Join me in this heartwarming conversation with David that bridges intellect and Earth wisdom. We chat about how the world of herbalism has evolved over the years, the new challenges facing the community, and the transformative power of plants in healing.
Highlights from the conversation that you won’t want to miss:
- Evolution of herbalism: From its early roots to the present, highlighting the immense growth and diversity in the field.
- Challenges in modern herbalism: The need to shift from generalizing herbs for certain diseases to understanding the holistic treatment of individuals.
- Misconceptions about popular herbs: Debunking the myths around St. John’s Wort, Black Cohosh, and Saw Palmetto.
- The importance of sustainability: A call for responsibly harvesting and cultivating endangered plants to ensure they’re available for future generations.
- Affordability and accessibility in herbalism: Striving to make herbal treatments accessible to everyone without compromising on the livelihoods of herbalists.
“Coming from a time when herbal medicine was virtually extinct, I would like to see, hopefully within my lifetime, a time where almost every mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa knows basic kitchen herbal medicine for their families.”
~ David Winston
May the past, present, and future of herbalism come alive in this insightful exchange.
