I am honoured to have had the opportunity to take this introductory course compiled by one of today’s most influential and well-loved herbalists, Rosemary Gladstar. I enjoyed the personal anecdotes that Rosemary shared throughout each lesson to help bring the teachings of our herbal allies to life. The course shows her dedication to folk medicine traditions and to keeping herbalism accessible for all people.
I now feel confident in the knowledge of herbal medicine making (and have a well-stocked pantry of fantastic homemade remedies made throughout the course), have an extensive Materia Medica, my own hand-drawn herbarium, and a renewed passion for working with healing herbs. I appreciated the thoughtful personal comments provided by the various teachers reading my homework lessons, as they were always thorough, encouraging and supportive.
A unique aspect about this course was that the concluding lessons provided guided questions and exercises for personal reflection: reflection on my own state of health including the creation of a personal treatment plan, as well as on the state of herbalism in North America and where I see my place within that context.
This course truly brings together both the scientific & artful studies of herbalism in a concise and beautiful way. Thank you to the Science & Art of Herbalism team for offering such an accessible yet life-changing foundational course in herbalism.
If you are new to herbs, or want to renew your passion for healing plants, this is the course to start with.
